It may seem somehow missing
Or lost beneath the tree
Perhaps it is invisible
Or something you can’t see
We want there to be wrappings
And things tied with a bow
But do those make us better
Or give us opportunities to grow
Size is not important
And certainly not the price
Stick figures drawn in crayon
Always are so nice
Sometimes there is no present
Only the gift
A chance or opportunity
For our spirits soon to lift
About the Poem The Gift
The poem The Gift is about letting go of something that you care about. This can be especially difficult around the holidays. It may be a relationship, a project or a business. The end of the year is a time we tend to take stock of our situation and decide what we want to do in the new year. I know several people that decided it was time for something different in their lives. It can be very hard to let go of something you put your heart and soul into even if you realize it’s not working.
Garth Brooks has a line in a song that, “some of God’s greatest gifts, are unanswered prayers.” Many things come into our life for a reason or a season. And then they go away. Sometimes we think it is supposed to be more permanent. We get disappointed when what we hope for isn’t there. But what we are missing is that it’s not supposed to be there. It was there to get you to another point or to create a space for another opportunity. And that is the true gift.

Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
