Words not often spoken
Though always in the mind
All too often silent
Since words are hard to find
Feeling expressed as gestures
More often than words
Connected more with nature
The animals and birds
Focused and always present
But distant in some ways
A humble soil servant
For all my many days
I guess some things are habits
You probably know the deal
So even if I didn’t say it
You know just how I feel
About the Poem Right Back at You
The poem Right Back at You is about my father, but it applies to a lot of those we refer to as the greatest generation. They grew up in the depression, farmed the land, dealt with a world war, did what was expected of them, and probably didn’t get a lot of “thank you” s or “love you” s along the way. And their response to those around them in later life was much the same. My dad’s go-to response was always “right back at you”. It covered a multitude of possible responses.
Inspirational Poetry Books
Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
