If I had one last song to sing
And hold the flowers that you’d bring
Hold your hand for one more hour
And take the time to smell each flower

Hold me up for one last dance
One more time to take a chance
Hold me close there in your arms
One last chance to enjoy your charms

Who could ask for more than this
A final chance at one last kiss
Dreams like this we can’t erase
By wiping tears off of your face

A final thought before I go
As spring says goodbye to winter snow
Share the memories of our love
And I’ll sing to you from up above

About the Poem – One Last Song (For Joey Feek)

Joey Feek was a brave wife and mother who lost her battle with cancer.  You might know her as part of the duo – Joey and Rory.  I wish I could say I knew either of them, but I found out about her in the media like many people.  You can read about her story in Rory’s blog – This Life I live.  I don’t normally write poems for people I don’t have any contact with, but some people impact the universe just by being in it. I also don’t write songs, but this one has a song version, and yes there is music to go with it, I just need to figure out how to write it down.  If there are any singers out there who want to give it a try, or if you knew Joey Feek, let me know.

If I had one last song to sing
And hold the flowers that you’d bring
I’d do it
Hold your hand for one more hour
And take the time to smell each flower
I’d do it

Hold me up for one last dance
One more time to take a chance
I’ll take it
Hold me close there in your arms
One last chance to enjoy your charms
We’ll make it

Winds that blow my dreams around
And leave me crashing to the ground
Turn my whole life upside down
And turning my smile to a frown
What is a girl to do
At least I still have you

Who could ask for more than this
A final chance at one last kiss
I’m trying
Dreams like this we can’t erase
By wiping tears off of your face
I’m crying

A final thought before I go
As spring says goodbye to winter snow
Share the memories of our love
And I’ll sing to you from up above

Winds that blow my dreams around
And leave me crashing to the ground
Turn my whole life upside down
And turning my smile to a frown
What is a girl to do
At least I still have you

Inspirational Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
