How can I stand silent
There’s words I have to speak
People might just listen
It’s leadership they seek
It may not be my time to lead
But lead I will one day
I want to move things forward
And I have so much to say
Know that I am standing
To carry on the fight
I cannot fix the distant past
But I can make the future right
Maybe if they see me
The world will see anew
I’m here to make a difference
And there’s lots of work to do
About the Poem Maybe if They See Me
Maybe If They See Me was the thoughts of 7 year old Kai Ayden. He didn’t really understand all he saw on TV, but he wanted to see for himself. Kai wants to be the next Martin Luther King. He has become a symbol of sorts in all the protests currently going on. Unlike some of the other images and soundbites, Kai appears to stand more against racism than against police. There are several pictures of him fist bumping a police officer. It’s really easy for the message to get lost in the chaos. Black Lives Matters and Blue Lives Matter are not mutually exclusive.
We have a lot of things that need fixing in this country. Violence doesn’t fix any of them. Kai’s view of the world is still that of a child, and maybe that’s something we can learn from. It’s sort of interesting that the protesters throwing rocks and bottles seem to have less of an impact than a 7 year old standing quietly in protest. The first step in making a difference is showing up, even if you aren’t old enough to get there on your own.
Inspirational Poetry Books
Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
