Perhaps you know the story
Of a man who died for love
Trading in this earthly life
For eternal life above

This may not be how it seems
From this side of the glass
Pain and loss seem unending
But soon this too shall pass

In truth there is no ending
Just a brief time kept apart
A time for growth and learning
And sharing of your heart

Do not fear the journey
Where you may seem on your own
Remember love is always
And you’ll never be alone

About the Poem Love is Always

The poem Love is Always is about dealing with loss, feeling along, and not knowing to do next. We look for answers to make sense of things and they rarely are present. This poem was a request from someone I don’t know, but I lost a friend about the same time with a similar situation. For those left behind there is a giant hole and it makes you question pretty much everything. Much like life, the title for this poem is complete and incomplete at the same time. You have to step back and think about it a bit. There should be a fill in the blank for Love is Always (Something). At the same time, love is eternal so saying love is always tends to capture that feeling. When you lose someone, both of those things can be true at the same time. It’s an end and a beginning. And it can also be the continuation of something in a different way. While it is easy to get lost in the pain of the moment, try to step back and look at the different ways you can see the situation. It may not get any easier in the moment, but you may see there is more going on.

Poetry Books

Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
