About The Poem Hold My Hand
Hold my hand is an inspirational poem about Alzheimer’s and inspired by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s relationship. If you haven’t been around someone with Alzheimer’s, it is an unusual experience. A few weeks ago I saw my aunt who I haven’t seen in a while. She looked good, was telling jokes, and had no idea who I was. It’s interesting how different parts of the brain are affected in different people.
Earlier this week we had the privilege of seeing Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga for his final performance. He turned 95 this week. He had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a few years ago, but his family finally began talking about it recently. The story of their relationship is quite touching. The performance was probably the ultimate accommodation for someone to do what they do best. In many ways, that could be said for each of them. You can read the poem with Tony or Lady Gaga as the narrator and it still has meaning. Lady Gaga was elegant and owned the stage, and gently provided some assistance for some issues on the stage. The one thing Tony didn’t need help with was singing. The songs were still there and it was a memorable night.
I don’t know when it will be broadcast, but the show was filmed for television. A final album for the two also dropped this week. If you like standards, it’s worth checking out.

While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
