Dust to dust
Once solid iron
Is now only rust
It is but a cycle
Through all things must pass
For rarely do the tangible
Continue to last
We look at these cycles
And wish they would change
Accepting this pattern
Somehow does seem strange
Few things are eternal
And one of them is love
Now and forever
On Earth and above
About this Inspirational Poem
Ashes to Ashes is a phrase we often hear at a time of loss. In reality it is the cycle that we are all apart from the time we are born. All things that ever have been or ever will be are made of the same collection of matter. There is both a permanence and an impermanence about all material things. While things themselves may fade away, the ingredients that made them simply become part of something new.
They say we are spiritual beings have a physical experience. This cycle of matter and life seems to reflect that reality. And at a higher level, I do think that love and emotions are actually more permanent than most physical things.
The poem is actually a response to a painting by the same name by Inga Street. http://www.ingastreet.com/ . Inga and I don’t really know each other yet, but I seem to find a lot of words hidden in her paintings. I think we somehow connect to the same energy in creating what we do. We may try to do something more intentional in the future. For now, I’m just seeing what words I have to go with her paintings. I suspect that she could actually paint some of my words if were doing things in reverse. Again – there’s more to our world than just our physical reality. In my case, words and images (and sometimes music) all connect to create emotions and possibly ideas for the people who read them.

Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
