A flame in the final flicker
No longer burning bright
Seeing a final sunset
Before welcoming the night
The days seemed somewhat brighter
With my favorite actors on the stage
Writing a new chapter
With each word on the page
Moments turn to memories
Of times that weren’t so hard
And hopes to see a future
That just wasn’t in the cards
It seems just like a minute
That life is passing by
Be sure to enjoy each minute
For it is but a twinkle of an eye
About the Poem A Twinkle of an Eye
The poem A Twinkle of an Eye is about reflecting on life when you know it is ending. Not all of us know how much time we have left. My cousin Barb lost her battle with ALS earlier this week. In her case, I wouldn’t exactly call it a battle as much as a documented journey. As a retired medical professional she diagnosed herself roughly 2 years ago. Most people have a bucket list that they never get to. Barb mapped her time out and had as many adventures as she could while she was still able to travel. When traveling was no longer an option, people came to her. Through it all she documented the experience, and shared where she was on the journey right up until what she described as “The final stretch of this roller coaster ride.” I know we all wish for a long life, but I think she got everything she could out of the time that she had. That may be the most any of us can ask for.
Poetry Books
Here are some of the books that are available from Robert Longley. I would recommend the Sacred Poem journals. Reading my earlier books (especially the ones for Military, Police and Firefighter’s families) cover to cover can be overwhelming. The poetry journals are designed to give you one poem per day while you journal about what might be going on in your life. There are specific journals for grief, success, and more.

Inspirational Poetry Products
While I do signed poetry prints that are 11×14, that isn’t the size or product that all people want. Some just want a sympathy card, others may want a large canvas print, or maybe a coffee cup. There are limits to what I can customize with the options available so some products just don’t work. Please just ignore them, I know that that format doesn’t work. If you are looking for something specific, or would like to make something specific just let me know. I’m open to just about anything.
